Trip into the misty mountains..

If you are planning to do a day trip from Bangalore or Mysore to a nearby calm spot, there's none better than Himavat Gopalswamy Betta. We stopped at Gopalswamy Betta, a hill top temple on the way from Masinagudi to Mysore. This is my recommendation for any travelers hopping between Ooty to Mysore.
Drive uphill, away from civilization
I enjoyed the drive up to the hill. I loved the idea of a under hyped temple and lush greenery around.

Not too bad for a temple backyard, eh? The green carpeted hills are not exactly an aftermath of monsoons but attribute to regular mist in this region. Early march when we visited this place, the breeze was still chilly in the afternoon hours and Waynad was not exactly cool during the day.

The clouds closed in around 4 PM, this wasn't even sunset. But a brilliant show just for us :)
You can walk around on the hill top, walk up to the other hills nearby. But tourism isn't great. Carry your own food if you plan to stay a few hours. Remember not to litter, because I found the place nice and clean.
